IP55 box

Boxes are designed to protect wires from mechanical damage, dust, moisture; for the junction points of power cables, lighting electrical networks (voltage up to 1000 V) of alternating and direct current, as well as cables of information networks (telephone, computer, television, communication networks, etc.) Suitable for surface mounting as in indoors and outdoors.

What does the degree of protection IP55 mean?

The IP55 degree of protection means a high degree of protection of the box against dust and moisture.

GOST 14254 the first digit (from 0 to 6) shows the degree of security solid object wiring. For example, the number 5 indicates that ingress of dust and moisture into hazardous places of wiring is not completely excluded (partially protected from dust). But this does not lead to disruption of the normal operation of the devices.

The second digit (from 0 to 10) shows the degree of protection of the wiring against water:

  • 0 - no water protection;
  • 1 - protection against vertically falling drops;
  • 2 - protection when the outlet or switch is tilted at an angle of no more than 15 injection;
  • 3 - protection from rain;
  • 4 - protection against splashing from any direction;
  • 5 - protection against water jets;
  • 6 - protection against water jets from any direction under high pressure.

Distinctive features of IP55 boxes

Products are resistant to negative environmental factors and mechanical damage: the housing is not subject to corrosion, and the covers can can be removed and installed many times without the risk of thread breakage. Quick installation and maintenance of the box provides a convenient fastening of the cover. ... Boxes are produced with cable glands - elements that help the entry of rigid and corrugated pipes and cables.

Features of mounting boxes

The products are installed under the ceiling (at a distance of at least 10 cm) or on entrance to the premises. All that needs to be done for installation is to secure case on the surface.

Wiring diagram in the junction box:

  • Twisting is the easiest way to connect and does not require the assistance of an electrician.
  • Spike - you need a soldering iron to connect the wires.
  • Welding - this method requires the use of a welding machine. Places of joints are highly reliable.
